I'm Jasmin and I believe everyone serves simply as part of the universes cycle. We live, we produce ideas, we create, we die and our atoms break down and become something new. We serve as building blocks to the universe. The oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus that make up 99% of our mass become something new. It could be as simple as a flower, or as complex as a newborn star. This blog simply serves as a tribute to science. It may include anything from astronomy/astrophysics to geology to neuroscience to engineering and everything in between. This blog may also include the occasional personal post and rant on capitalism. (and Carl Sagan, can't forget Carl Sagan)

AND SHE WON’T BELIEVE ME WHEN I TRY TO TELL HER OUR GALAXY HAS *AT LEAST* 200 BILLION STARS

The escape of one’s mind is what occurs when one simply looks up and sees the specks of dust sprinkled along the horizon and all over the blackness. Thoughts seem to flow better; dreams seem to materialize in our minds eye. Breathing comes as easy as the beauty beheld by the sight overhead. It’s those simple seconds that everything is put into proper perspective. From there we venture with insight. From there we leave as beholders of the night, hoping one day to touch stardust. Perhaps venturing even to becoming it.

I quite enjoy nature. From the beauty of flowers to the depth of the night sky. Sometimes I dislike the world we live in, but others I am glad to be a piece in the puzzle we call the universe

Black Hole in Milky Way Seen Snacking on Asteroids?

Our Milky Way galaxy’s supermassive black hole is apparently dining on all-you-can-eat asteroids, according to a new study.

Dubbed Sagittarius A* (pronounced “A star”), the monster black hole lies 26,000 light-years away in the galactic center. The black hole is surrounded by an accretion disk—a swirling ring of superheated gases—which spews radiation as matter is consumed.
